About me
Former IT Manager, with many years experience in IT as a Senior Systems and Network Engineer.
I wanted more out of life, my IT career was going well, but it felt a bit empty. Being at a computer all day, for 20 years I really wanted to explore something different. I wanted a role that involved getting away from the computer, moving my body and working with children. I'd always loved children, love sailing and love the water and found myself teaching my friends' children how to swim for sheer pleasure. It was a natural progression for me to explore a career in this. When you love what you do, it doesn't feel like work.
I am very passionate about helping children with their development in all areas; physical, social, emotional, psychological, communication and language.
I have a lifelong love of the water and of aquatic environments and wish to pass this passion and joy on to all infants and children.

I am also experienced working with WordPress Websites. I build and secure them, ensure they are being backed up, upgrade, update and maintain them. However in my experience, a simple Google Site is often more cost effective for small businesses than a WordPress site which has to be frequently updated to avoid security vulnerabilities (themes, plugins and WP core), and has an additional ongoing expenses of fast and secure hosting.
Cyber Security Teacher
I am an experienced Cyber Security Teacher. I have run a business called "Stay Safe Online" where I taught people and small buisness owners how to protect themselves online, lock down their PC or MAC to make things harder for the hackers, and how to recognise phishing scams. I also taught mature students how to hack websites and test them for vulnerabilities as part of a Cyber Security qualification they were working towards. I was employed by TAFE Queenland to deliver units of the Cert III in IT and the Cert IV in Cyber Security during 2022.
I can offer a basic Penetration Testing Service to small businesses, and am always happy to advise on how they can protect themselves better. I can also deliver training to employees to help them recognise phishing and ransomware BEFORE they click or expose confidential information.
